A waterfall gently cascades through a forest in the Lake District

Tucked away in the Borrowdale Valley lies an old picturesque watermill. It was at one point considered a bit of a Lake District secret; hidden away from the nearby crowds in Keswick. At the time I took the photo, the river was a raging torrent, which meant I could not get as close as originally hoped!

Just a short stroll and high above the Lake District town of Ambleside sits a number of picturesque waterfalls and cascades close to Stockghyll Force, here looking more like the Amazon Rainforest than Cumbria

An Autumn view of the Lake District fells North of Keswick and Derwentwater, where the Cumbria Way and other footpaths take walkers up into the fells and the the viewpoint at Latrigg. Can you see the walkers heading up the peak? Were you there ?

On the western side of Thirlmere in England's Cumbrian Lake District is a narrow winding road along the length of the lake. Several parking places give access to woodland walks to the shore of the lake. This bridge is on one such walk near the southern end of the lake, crossing a small but torrential stream tumbling down the hillside. It's the sort of bridge that invites you to cross it - just to see where it leads!
