Description: Tri-State Motor Transit Co. (TSMT) was founded in 1929 in Joplin, Missouri, and grew from a small regional carrier into one of the nation’s largest specialized trucking companies. Early on, TSMT carved out a niche hauling explosives for the mining industry, work that demanded strict safety standards and highly trained drivers. During World War II, the company played a critical role transporting munitions for the U.S. military, helping establish its long-standing relationship with the Department of Defense.
