Description: Back in the late 80's, the Raiders football team desperately wanted a new football stadium. What booming metropolis nearly lured the Silver and Black away from the city of Los Angeles? Irwindale, California of course! Located some 18 miles away from the L.A. Coliseum, this small town nearly landed one of the most storied professional football franchises. In 1989, the deal finally fell through, which ultimately led to the Raiders moving back to Oakland and then on to their present home in Las Vegas. This is like the shirts that were worn by Irwindale residents when they thought they were about to play host to the famed black hole.
