“New Day at Kawainui” began as a response to the theme of its debut show, “Fresh Start”. The theme was created to reflect the time of the show, in January when everyone has set resolutions and the energy of a new year is high. I have always been a believer in the power of setting goals for each New Year’s Day. I try to stick to my goals and really make changes that are beneficial. The concept of a fresh start was very exciting to me. When I thought of how to translate this concept to a visual realm, I immediately thought of the golden mornings on my walks at Kawainui.
