Description: The death moth has fascinated artists for a long time, and this is my surreal interpretation of it. I went overboard with skulls and eyeballs, added some horns and bone like structures… Overall, I spent like 30 hours designing this tiny beast to make it look evil, macabre, spooky, gothic and extra cool. I hope you like it, I really enjoyed drawing it…
Description: A striking visual featuring a skull with outstretched wings and a banner across its lower jaw. The skull has vacant eyes and an open mouth as if screaming. The overall aesthetic is dark and bold, with a strong emphasis on the skeletal and avian elements.
Description: I'm so happy, dancin' while the Grim Reaper Cuts, cuts, cuts But he can't get me I'm as clever as can be, and I'm very quick, but don't forget: We've only got so many tricks No one lives forever! No one beats him at his game For very long, but just the same Who cares; there's no place safe to hide Nowhere to run—no time to cry So celebrate while you still can 'Cause any second, it may end And when it's all been said and done Better that you had some fun! - Oingo Boingo
Description: “This is the Death’s-head Moth,” he said. “That’s nightshade she’s sitting on—we’re hoping she’ll lay.” The moth was wonderful and terrible to see, its large brown-black wings tented like a cloak, and on its wide furry back, the signature device that has struck fear in men for as long as men have come upon it suddenly in their happy gardens. The domed skull, a skull that is both skull and face, watching from its dark eyes, the cheekbones, the zygomatic arch traced exquisitely beside the eyes. “Acherontia styx,” Pilcher said. “It’s named for two rivers in Hell. Your man, he drops the bodies in a river every time—did I read that?” - Thomas Harris "The Silence of the Lambs"
Description: Ouija or spirit or talking board is the best way to communicate with the dead. As a part of the spiritualist movement, mediums began to employ various means for communication with the dead. Following the American Civil War in the United States, mediums did significant business in presumably allowing survivors to contact lost relatives. It is a popular game and an inspiration for all kinds of ghost stories. Also, they look beautiful and this is my take on it. It has all the familiar elements (alphabet, words yes, no, hello and goodbye, numbers) and it also features some skulls and the death moth I designed earlier.
Description: A monochromatic depiction of a human skull shown from the front. The skull is rendered in white with black shadows and highlights, revealing detailed bone structure, empty eye sockets, a nasal cavity, and an open mouth with visible teeth. The background is solid black.
Description: Dark gothic skull illustration wrapped in thorny vines with a radiant halo effect and distressed vintage linework. A striking macabre design for skull lovers, gothic style fans, dark art collectors and alternative fashion aesthetics.
