Description: The Memphis Showboats were an American football franchise in the United States Football League. They entered the league in its expansion in 1984 and made the 1985 playoffs, losing in the semifinal round to the Oakland Invaders. Perhaps the most prominent players on the Showboats' roster during their two seasons of existence were future Pro Football Hall of Fame member Reggie White and future professional wrestler Lex Luger.
Description: Just down the street from world-famous Sun Record Studios, sat a no-frills music lounge by the name of 'Kudzu's Bar & Deli' which appeared to be frozen in time long before it's opening in 1990. Not sure how the deli thing worked, but they thankfully dropped that idea, though it remained on the exterior wall for decades to come. While primarily a music venue that showcased local and national touring acts, Kudzu's was also a full service bar and grill offering some surprisingly good food and top-shelf drinks for a place that was without question a dive bar. Photos, clippings, and other music memorabilia covered the walls upstairs, and the sketchy looking basement is populated with a pool table and jukebox, but the real draw was the live music

Description: Crown Electric Company, Inc. of Memphis, Tennessee was an electrical supply business that served the trades. Founded in 1953 at 475 N. Dunlap Street, Crown Electric was a full service supply house that stocked everything a working electrician might need, and even delivered directly to their job sites. By 1956, the business had outgrown their original location and relocated to 353 Poplar Avenue, and while that building no longer stands today, the original Dunlop location does and has been a steel supply business for decades.
