Description: Onibaba, also titled The Hole, is a 1964 Japanese historical drama and horror film written and directed by Kaneto Shindō. The film is set during a civil war in medieval Japan. Nobuko Otowa and Jitsuko Yoshimura play two women who kill infighting soldiers to steal their armor and possessions for survival, while Kei Satō plays the man who ultimately comes between them.
Description: Inspired by Japanese folklore, this artwork depicts Onibaba, a demon witch often portrayed as a tragic and dangerous figure. In many stories, she is a woman driven to madness or violence, haunting remote places and preying on those who cross her path. Balancing human emotion with something more unsettling, Onibaba exists between sorrow and cruelty, making her one of the darker and more complex yokai. Perfect for fans of yokai, dark themes, and folklore-inspired art.
