Pardalote T-Shirts

One of the cutest (and most shy) little birds in the Aussie Bush. This image is from an original painting of a Spotted Pardalote perched on a Silver Princess Gum (eucalyptus caesia). Native to my local area of Western Australia.

The Spotted Pardalote is a teeny tiny burst of beauty in the Australian landscape of birds. If you are lucky you might see one high up in the canopy! But you will have to look closely as these little wonders are less than 10cm in size!

The Forty-spotted Pardalote is one of Australia's rarest small birds and is threatened with extinction. It belongs to the 'Diamond birds' because of its tiny jewel-like appearance. It is found in isolated colonies in Tasmania's Eucalyptus viminalis forests.

The Australian 40-spotted Pardalote is an endangered species. This little bird lives in Tasmania, and is threatened by habitat loss, climate change, and predators.

This little guy (a striated pardalote) was a real character, posing in the knobbly branches of an old coastal banksia. He was watching me closely, as if to say, “What are you doing here, this is my place?” To which I respond, “It’s ok little buddy, I’m just passing through, but you took my breath away with your spectacular oranges and yellows against that vibrant blue sky.”

Pardalotes are diminutive birds, weighing only about 12 g. They live high in the outer reaches of the canopy and are not easily seen unless you are looking hard for them. This one had flown into the house. Id just released it.
