I wonder how much time went into this amazing piece of art! Photographed on town neck beach in sandwich, it must have been hours of searching for the perfect balance of large and small. Sadly these are temporary, at least until the tide comes in! All that work doesn’t go unappreciated, though, when you’ve got a photo to capture the memory!

Balancing Act Rock Cairn Thankfully someone was kind enough to leave this amazingly balanced rock Cairn for me to photograph on the beach of Robin Hood's Bay in Yorkshire. A cairn is a man-made pile (or stack) of stones originally used for navigation to mark the route of a trail for others to follow. During a walk on a golden fall day, you wander into a field dotted with rock cairns. At first, the rocks seem to be stacked at random but then you realize they're perfectly balanced.
