In a 1999 interview he revealed the scale of this "Shermer-verse". 15 years worth of notebooks detailed how Ferris Bueller (FB's Day Off) was friends with Sam Baker (16 Candles), John Bender (The Breakfast Club) lived three doors down from Del Griffiths (Planes, Trains & Automobiles) and so on.
