Tutankhamun T-Shirts
Description: Tutankhamun was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who ruled c. 1332 – 1323 BC during the late Eighteenth Dynasty of ancient Egypt. His tomb was discovered in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter in the Valley of The Kings. The quantity and spectacular appearance of the burial goods created a media frenzy, and the tomb became the most famous find in Egyptology. Between 1972 and 1981, an extensive exhibit called 'Treasures of Tutankhamun' toured the world, bringing the artifacts of the tomb to several major cities. Six of those cities were in America, one of them being Seattle, Washington in 1978, and this design is reminiscent of the souvenirs available at this particular show.

The expedition focused on the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt, where Carter and Carnarvon sought to uncover previously undiscovered royal tombs. Carter’s team discovered a flight of steps leading to a sealed doorway marked with cartouches—hieroglyphic symbols indicating a royal name. The tomb, belonging to the young Pharaoh Tutankhamun, was remarkably intact.
