The 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment served with the 3rd Armored Division from 1957-1991, including service in Operations Desert Shield and Storm.

The 94th Field Artillery Regiment is a field artillery regiment of the United States Army, first constituted 1933 in the Regular Army. As the 94th Field Artillery Battalion, the unit served with the 4th Armored Division during World War II. After some service as a constabulary force in Germany, the unit rejoined the 4th Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas, and in Germany. Under the CARS and USARS since 1957, regimental elements have served with the 1st Armored and 4th Armored Divisions in Germany and at Fort Hood, Texas; with the 108th Artillery Group in Vietnam; and with the Berlin Brigade in Germany. Units of the regiment have earned campaign streamers in World War II, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the War on Terror.

On February 24, 1991, the battalion moved across the Iraqi border in support of Operation Desert Storm and fired their first round at the enemy since 1945. In 2004, the battalion deployed with the 1st Brigade Combat Team (Ready First), 1 Armored Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Baghdad and again in 2006 to Tal Afar and Ramadi.

The 3rd AD and VII Corps launched a massive armored attack into Iraq, just to the west of Kuwait, taking the Iraqis completely by surprise. A 3rd AD Brigade along the line of departure. Scouts from 2d Brigade crossed on the afternoon of 23 February 1991 just after 1500 hours. Less than two hours later, they had penetrated several miles into Iraq and managed to capture over 200 prisoners. On 24 February, the official first day of action, the division as a whole swung into action as part of a coordinated attack by hundreds of thousands of allied troops.
