This image, originally captured on film, is of the entrance to what I believe are lodgings for the Military Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, the world's oldest chivalric order. Above the doorway is the emblem of the order, which, with the exception to the Victoria Cross and George Cross, is the most senior order of knighthood in the British honours system. Membership is extremely limited: the monarch (Queen), the Prince of Wales, and twenty-four members appointed by the monarch. It seems that the order dates back to when Edward III established it in 1348.
