Inspired by the image of Hekate on the great altar of Pergamon, now in the Pergamon Museum in Germany. The altar displays the Gigantomachy, the battle between the Gods and the Titans, where Hekate stood on the side of Zeus, and killed the giant Clytios. This has been painted over a silver and gold acrylic pour.

Hekate, who brings Death As a psychopompe, Hekate is one of the Gods who helps mortals pass into the next life.

Hekate's mother is the Titaness of Stars, Asteria. As such, Hekate spans a connection between both the Heavens and the Underworld.

Hecate's Wheel, also known as the strophalos, is an honored and traditional symbol used in witchcraft. It calls forth the power of Hecate, Greek goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, the moon, ghosts and necromancy. Hecate's Wheel symbolizes Hecate in three forms. One modern interpretation of this can be seen in the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. She was also associated with a vast knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, so leaves became a general focus for this design. Hello! You found again to my gate. It's nice to see you back here - I've been waiting for you for a while. It's time for you to step through my portal and bring back your magic. You have always had them in you; How could you forget that? Take her. Use it. For your own and for the highest good. She belongs to you. She is a part of you. Let her take over. You are not walking the earth for the first time and you have always used your magic completely naturally, whether you were aware of it or not. I started with the Rose Cross sigil technique, and Hekate’s name. Thus I ended up with a simple set of angles and a circle. I poured the paint onto the canvas in that same pattern, in the colors most closely associated with Hekate (red, black, white, and yellow.) This being fluid art, of course the paints wanted to move and shift and blend across the surface, which I expected. I did my best to keep the paint along the lines of the sigil, but there’s only so much control in this method of painting. The end result has a distinct lack of a clear sigil, but a fire-like quality when looked at upside down. This reminds me of the cemetery art tradition, of death being symbolized by an upside down torch. All of which is very Hekatean. I hope y...
