Heliocentric Model Tank Tops

Description: Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance-era mathematician and astronomer, who formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than Earth at the center of the universe, in all likelihood independently of Aristarchus of Samos, who had formulated such a model some eighteen centuries earlier. Description: And yet it moves. This bold and beautifully layered mixed-media collage pays tribute to Galileo Galilei — astronomer, physicist, mathematician, and the man who dared to tell the truth about the universe at a time when the truth could get you killed. His weathered, quietly defiant portrait floats against a white ground, surrounded by bold geometric forms in deep crimson, burnt sienna, raw ochre, and dark earth tones that evoke both the Renaissance fresco tradition and the fragmented, contested nature of knowledge itself. A torn strip of aged scientific text cuts diagonally across the composition like a forbidden manuscript — or a sentence from the very books the Inquisition forced him to recant.
