Description: Explore a Copernican solar system design inspired by the Renaissance heliocentric diagrams associated with Nicolaus Copernicus. Featuring the Sun centered among the planets, this astronomy artwork honors the scientific revolution and the discovery that changed humanity's view of the cosmos. A thoughtful choice for astronomy enthusiasts, science teachers, history students, educators, and admirers of Renaissance scientific illustration.
Description: De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (in English translation: On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres) is the seminal work on the heliocentric theory of the astronomer The publication of Copernicus' model in his book De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres), just before his death in 1543, was a major event in the history of science, triggering the Copernican Revolution and making a pioneering contribution to the Scientific Revolution.
Description: Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer, physicist, engineer and polymath. He was born in Pisa, then part of the Duchy of Florence. Galileo Galilei is most famous for pioneering modern observational astronomy and laying the foundational groundwork for modern physics. Using an improved telescope, he discovered the four largest moons of Jupiter, the phases of Venus, and craters on the Moon. He also famously championed the Copernican heliocentric model, which ultimately led to his trial by the Roman Inquisition.
