Sahara Las Vegas is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. The resort initially operated under the Sahara name from 1952 to 2011. Originally, Milton Prell opened the Club Bingo casino on the site in 1947. In 1951, he gathered former business partners to begin work on the Sahara, which was built on the land partially occupied by Club Bingo. Del E. Webb Construction Company built the Sahara, which opened on October 7, 1952, as the sixth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. It featured an African theme.

The Mint opened in 1957. One of the original owners was Milton Prell, who also owned the Hotel Sahara and later the Aladdin hotel-casino. The Golden Goose was a casino located on 20 Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. It was the first casino to be fully owned by Herb Pastor and first opened in 1975. It later closed in 1991 after Pastor bough the Glitter Gulch Casino and converted both properties into a gentlemen's club, known as the Girls of Glitter Gulch.

Cal Neva Resort & Casino, previously known as the Calneva Resort and Cal-Neva Lodge, is a resort and casino straddling the border between Nevada and California on the shores of Lake Tahoe. The original building was constructed in 1926, and became famous when the national media picked up a story about actress Clara Bow cancelling checks she owed to the Cal-Neva. "Casino Center" was a downtown branding effort that came and went in the 60s. 2nd Street was renamed "Casino Center Blvd" in the middle of this campaign. It was the first but not the last time downtown competed with the Strip for visitors. They also built a billboard sign along I-15 approaching Las Vegas, 1967 that read Downtown Casino Center → 10 Minutes. The name change has stood the test of time, as for that "Downtown Casino Center" sign, it was built by the same team who made the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. They first placed it near the site of the present-day Cosmo, then later moved it out to the highway. Unfortunately its now long gone.

Honest Johns was a small casino located on where the Bonanza Gift Shop is today on the Las Vegas, Strip in Winchester, Nevada. The hotel opened in 1960 as a liquor store, then reopened in 1972 as a casino, making it one of the first casinos in Las Vegas that originates as a store. The casino closed in 1978. This was only one of the three Honest John's Casinos in the Las Vegas area, one of which becoming Lady Luck in the 1970s.

The casino was known for its rotating slipper that sat atop the casino.On April 30, 1968, the Silver Slipper was purchased by businessman Howard Hughes in his famous spending spree of buying Vegas properties, which included the Frontier next door.
