Boats at rest, moored for the evening at the quayside at Blakeney, North Norfolk. Such a peaceful scene but until the early 1900s when the harbour silted up,this was a busy port. In medival times it was noted for spices and oriental cloth and, apparently, acts of piracy! Now it is a peaceful harbour for small boats.The marshes round about are a haven for wildlife. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the North Norfolk Heritage Coast.

It's a thatched building dating from the C17th having apparently been a pub for over 350 years! The village sits on the Berkshire (or North Wessex) Downs above Streatley and the Thames Valley in the midst of farmland. Just further up the road from here is the church which contains the huge effigies of knights belonging to the De La Beche Family. The image is finished as a pastel drawing.

A white painted house on the banks of the River Thames at Mill End, Hambleden in Buckinghamshire. This lovely stretch of the river is where the Chiltern Hills meet the Thames Valley and unsuprisingly is the setting for many TV programmes and a number of films. This image was captured from Hambledon Weir, the longest on the river. Nearby is the iconic Hambleden Mill, now luxury flats. A digital drawing from my original photograph.

As much as we may hate the winter and snow, there is definitely a certain beauty in winter. Hopefully this snow scene captures some of that beauty.

An impressionistic view of the approach to Woodbridge in Suffolk along the footpath beside the River Deben. Woodbridge lies about 9 miles from the Suffolk coast on the tidal stretch of the river - used to power the tide mill on the quay.. The town was once known for shipbuilding, rope-making and sail-making - and apparently some of Drake's warships were built here. The Deben flows from here to Felixtowe where it meets the sea. This stretch is a haven for wildlife being a Special Protection Area.

The approach to Day's Lock on the River Thames at Little Wittenham in Oxfordshire. This is the view from the footbridge once well known for the annual Pooh Sticks Championships! Turn right here and we reach Dorchester-on-Thames with its abbey church and buildings. Following the Thames Path over the lock and weir we eventually reach the town of Abingdon, Day's Lock is apparently named after a local Catholic yeoman in the 17th century.The image has been given a textured finish as a pencil drawing

An impresisionist style photograph of the Kennet and Avon Canal from the Station Road Footbridge at Hungerford in West Berkshire. This was captured just before Christmas on a frosty morning. Behind us is the Town Bridge and Hungerford Wharf. Ahead of us the waterway flows through Newbury before carrying on to Reading where it meets the Thames.

A typical scene in rural Cumbria! Captured on the unclassified road approaching the village of Caldbeck in the Northern Fells where sheep regard the tarmac as their property (quite right too!). The road leads from the A595 (Cockermouth to Carlisle) leaving at Red Dial and passing through Brocklebank to reach Calbeck, a picturesque village set in the heart of the fells. Boathouses on the banks of the River Thames at Goring opposite the lock and just upstream from the old mill. Goring is an extremely picturesque village on the north bank of the Thames in Oxfordshire, just across the river from Streatley in Berkshire. Here the river flows through the Goring Gap between the Chiltern Hills in the north and the Berkshire or North Wessex Downs in the south. Goring has been the haunt of artists including JMW Turner.
