The lovely and expansive beach at the foreshore of the town of Quepos, Costa Rica. The town is known for its big-game spots fishing, but the locals live the same life as average Costa Ricans do in other towns. The wealth from the fishing all seems to be concentrated in one area near the marina. Canon 6D, zoom lens.

Quepos Costa Rica

White-lined Bats, Saccopteryx sp., in their day time resting place. It is usual for these little bats to be in family groups with one male and a harem of females. They line up on a tree or rock to sleep during the day. By doing this they give the appearance of being a bigger animal such as a snake, which deters predators. Adults normally measure about 5 centimeters. They are also called Sac-winged Bats because they have a sac shaped scent gland on their wings. They feed on aerial insects. Canon 6D, zoom lens.

The Whimbrel, Numenius phaeopus, is a wader in the large family Scolopacidae. It is one of the most widespread of the curlews. Whimbrels feed by probing soft mud for small invertebrates and by picking small crabs and similar prey off the surface. Photographed in the mangroves in the estuaries of Qhepos, Costa Rica. Female Green Iguana, Iguana iguana, which is a large lizard native to Central, South America, and the Caribbean. This one was photographed in Quepos, Costa Rica. The females are grey to brown, while the males are orange during the breeding season. The juveniles of both sexes are green. Green iguanas are diurnal, arboreal, and are often found near water.
