Above Ullswater on Place Fell, a stunning view of Hartsop and Brotherswater can been seen through the morning storm. The cloud and mist was being whipped by strong winds, snow beginning to fall and the sun was breaking through in intermittent bursts. Brancaster is a village and civil parish on the north coast of the English county of Norfolk. The civil parish of Brancaster comprises Brancaster itself, together with Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Deepdale. The three villages form a more or less continuous settlement along the A149 at the edge of the Brancaster Manor marshland and the Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve. The wooden groins in this location are unusual in they zig-zag along the coast and are undated in age Canon 5D Mk3 24-105 L series lens

The old Chemical beach of Seaham harbour, so named for the period that the chemical works were situated on the cliffs above the beach. Once the chemical waste was piped directly into the Seaham and other waste was carried along the beach on small rail carts - now all that remains are the remnants of the tracks and some old wagon wheels in the sea. Rockcliffe is one of a number of small seaside villages along the stretch of the north shore of the Solway Firth known as the Colvend Coast. From the bay, two islands are visible offshore. The more distant is Hestan Island, complete with its lighthouse and cottages. Closer in, a third of a mile from Rockcliffe, is Rough Island. This is accessible on foot at low tide, either via a causeway of sorts from the north, or directly across the sand from Rockcliffe. Canon 5D MKiii 24-105 L-series lens

Sunrise captured over the old Featherbed Rock at Seaham Harbour on the County Durham Coast of North east England.

A war-weary Tommy sits thoughtfully, head bowed, rifle in hand, as he reflects upon the sheer horror of World War One during the first minute after peace was declared in 1918. This imposing metal sculpture, entitled 1101, owing to the fact the armistice went into effect at 11am on November 11, 1918, stands 9ft 5ins tall and weighs 1.2 tonnes. Built out of special corteen steel, it has been installed on Seaham seafront in Country Durham to mark the centenary of the start of the Great War. Created by local artist Ray Lonsdale, the sculpture is also intended to represent Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which many of the returning soldiers endured.

The lower falls on the River Tees known as Low Force - these smaller falls sit down river from the bigger and more famous High Force falls

On top of Penshaw Hill sits the Earl of Durham's Monument. Better known as the Penshaw Monument, this 70 foot high folly is a replica of the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens and can be seen for miles around. It is considered to be Wearside's most beloved landmark, even appearing on the badge of Sunderland Football Club. This eerie image taken after sunset shows the steep path leading to the monument which was bathed in a purple light.

Loch Gamhna is a small loch located in the Cairngorm National park of the Scottish Highlands. Located just west of the town of Aviemore, it is accessed via overgrown pathways that surround the larger Loch Eilean. A walk down these tracks reveal a hidden gem - made more spectacular in the snow. Canon 5D Mk3 16-35L

Early morning reflections of the Skidded Mountain Range on the glass like Derwentwater in the Lake District of England.

Loch lagoon is a 7 mile long freshwater loch located in the Scottish Highlands. Running parallel to the A82, it affords some spectacular views for anyone driving along the route. Here the view is westwards towards the Ben Nevis mountain range.

The sheep pen is located next to the River Coquet which runs through the Coquet Valley of Northumberland, close to the Scottish Borders. The sheep pens are located on the valley floor. The sheep are moved from the surrounding hills during what can be very severe winters.

The old wagon wheels are a set of wheels that are visible at low tide on the old 'Chemical Beach' situated at Seaham Harbour on the north east coast of England. They are from an old wagon that used to run along a line from the area of the old chemical works to the harbours. The slow shutter of what was a fantastic sky adds to the character of the image.

This is a wonderful woodland walk, which follows the Hareshaw Dene up to The Linn, a 30-ft waterfall. (Linn is the old English for waterfall). During the first part of the walk you pass through the spoil heaps of the iron works before entering the woodland section which has been enjoyed by the locals since the end of the 19th century. A wide range of fauna and wildlife is around you all the time, so it is certainly not a walk to be rushed.

Sun rising over the Old Chemical Beach, located on the north east coast of England, slightly south of Seaham Harbour. The name was given to the area during the times of the old chemical works that are situated on the cliff tops. The area still shows the remnants of the industrial heritage.

The lagoon located on the Costa Calma at the southern end of Fuerteventura is a tidal lagoon, separated from the sea by a sandbar. At very high tides and full moons the tide rises over the sandbar and floods the lagoon. Captured here on its last day before it returns to sandy beach
