The Seven Sisters is a local name for a copse of trees located in the town of Houghton le Spring in County Durham. Various local legends exist in relation to the trees. Though still retaining the name, one of the trees has now been lost.

A beautiful calm day at Derwentwater afforded the opportunity to pick up some lovely reflections of the Skiddaw mountain range reflected the the still waters.

Lindisfarne or Holy Island as it is often referred to is located just off the Northumberland Coastline and is only accessible by road via a causeway that is visible at low tide. A small island containing a fishing harbour and a castle, it holds a prominent position in the religious heritage of the area. When on the island, looking west to the mainland, if lucky, you witness some great sunsets.

The High Force Waterfall in Forest-in-Teesdale, probably one of the most spectacular waterfalls in England caught at sunset in full flow.

Coldingham Sands or Coldingham bay, is an inlet on the north East coastline of the Scottish Borders in East Berwickshire located between Eyemnouth and St Abbs Harbour. Canon 5D Mk3 16-35 L

The lagoon located on the Costa Calma at the southern end of Fuerteventura is a tidal lagoon, separated from the sea by a sandbar. At very high tides and full moons the tide rises over the sandbar and floods the lagoon. Captured here on its last day before it returns to sandy beach.

Haweswater in the English Lake District, captured just as an autumnal storm had subsided. The view north along the lake takes in Mardale Common to the right and Bason Crag and Whelter Bottom to the left. Canon 5d Mk3 24-105mm L-series lens.

The partly frozen Derwent Reservoir, located in County Durham, close to the border of Northumberland and the villages of Edmunbyers and Blanchlands in the respective counties.

The Ribblehead Viaduct also known as the Batty Moss Viaduct in the Ribble Valley of North Yorkshire, carries the Settle - Carlisle railway over Batty Moss at Ribblehead. It has 24 stone arches and carries the line some 104 feet above the moor. The viaduct is a Grade 2 listed structure Canon 5D Mk3 24 -105mm L series lens

Grove Rake was a Fluorspar mine and is located on the moors above Rookhope in County Durham, close to the border of Northumberland. Abandoned in 1999, it fell into disrepair and the second tower has been stripped for scrap metal over the years.

Cow Green, a two mile long reservoir was built between 1967 and 1971 to supply the industries of Teesside. Environmentally speaking this part of Upper Teesdale is of National importance, and the plan to construct this reservoir had been strongly opposed by local conservationists. Their main concern was the protection of the rich flora and fauna of the district and especially rare alpine plants like the unique Teesdale violet. Damon %D MKiii 24 - 105 L series lens

Loughrigg Tarn is a small, natural lake located in the Lake District of North West England, in the county of Cumbria. Located close to the famous Windermere, it sits very close to the village of Skelwith Bridge, below Loughrigg Fell. Looking out across the tarn, the magnificent Langdale Pikes are visible. Cow Green Reservoir is located in the dales of County Durham, close to the borders with Cumbria and Upper Teesdale. The reservoir feeds water to the River Tees, via the weir and the Cauldron Snout waterfall. In the distance is Black Hill, leading to Mickle Fell and the Warcop military firing ranges.

The coastal town of Seaham Harbour is in County Durham on the north east coast of England. Once a very busy port exporting coal from the numerous mines in the area and chemicals and glass from the chemical works, it is now a much quieter area. A search of the beaches in the area still show the history of the area, with old wagon tracks and uprights visible on the less frequented beaches. Here a set of old wagon wheels sit in the sea, only visible a low tides......they stand proud against the sea, with Seaham pier and lighthouse in the background, a reminder of the history of the area.

The Allt Mor Burn tumbles down Meall Dubh, through the woods and into the village of Kinloch Rannoch. The waterfall is best seen in the winter months as it splashed over the rock formations into the village.

Loch Gamhna is a small loch located in the Cairngorm National Park of The Scottish Highlands. Located close to the town of Aviemore and on the road to Cairn Gorm itself. Canon 5D Mk3 16-35 L series lens

The Costa Calma, located in the southern end of Fuerteventura has expanses of sandy beaches and is famous for wind and kite surfing. Close to the Melia Gorriones hotel, the coast and hills (that look like huge sand dunes) allow for some colourful and scenic sunsets and sunrises.

The MV Dayspring, more commonly known as the Corpach Wreck, lies on the shore of Loch Linnhe on Scotlands west coast. Originally a fishing boat, it was tied to the dock, when during a storm a securing chain snapped and the boat was washed to this location. Canon 5D Mk3 16-35 L lens
