French writer Françoise Sagan wrote her first novel "Bonjour, tristesse" (Hello Sadness) in 1954. It was an overnight sensation in Paris. Dealing with topics such as depression, customs and teen angst, it was deemed by some as scandalous and is now considered a cult book.
