Water Bird Tank Tops

This Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) was photographed near the mouth of the River Wansbeck in Northumberland in April 2015. This beautiful pure white bird was taking a break from fishing when the photograph was taken and the calm conditions were ideal for the reflection of the bird on the water.

A pair of black cormorants. These big black birds of the sea are a very familiar sight on any North American beach. They remind me of scruffy sturdy pirates. Or black dragons, when they spread their wings to dry.

Arriving A Bit Weathered and Worn by Debra Martz Over the first few weeks of October the American White Pelicans arrive daily on their fall migration from the north. This one was looking a bit haggard from its travels so I brighten it up a bit by adding some textures and painterly effects. Canon Rebel T3i Greylag Goose is an Old World Goose species belonging to the Anser genus. The name is spelled as Graylag Goose in the US. It is the only wild Goose species that can be seen throughout the year in the United States.Their name “Greylag” is derived from the fact that they are the last Goose species to migrate and each year they “lag” behind the other Geese. This beautiful goose was seen at a local lake in Wilmington, North Carolina USA. Thank you for looking at my Photography!!! Cynthia

Crowded Takeoff by Debra Martz I don't know how they can takeoff when so close and crowded together. The American White Pelican is a very large bird with a length over 5 ft and wingspans up to 9.5 ft. Also, you might notice they are kicking up muddy water. That is just how shallow this lake is becoming due to the ongoing drought.
