The 149th Armor Brigade is an armor heavy national guard brigade in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The brigade contains three combat battalions (two armor, one mechanized infantry), one support battalion and the headquarters is in Louisville, Ky. The brigade's mission in time of war is to either fight as a combined arms team with the parent unit, the 35th Infantry Division (Mechanized), or as an independent brigade.

As the 67th Infantry Brigade, the brigade was initially formed in August 1917 in the Iowa and Nebraska Army National Guards, and was part of the 34th Division mobilized for World War I. It comprised the 133rd Infantry Regiment of Iowa and the 134th Infantry Regiment of Nebraska. The 67th Separate Infantry Brigade was formed on 1 April 1963 due to the elimination of the Nebraska–Iowa 34th Infantry Division under the Reorganization Objective Army Division reorganization. The 11th Infantry Brigade is an inactive infantry brigade of the United States Army. It was first formed as part of the 6th Infantry Division during World War I. It is best known for its service with the 23rd Infantry Division from 1967 through 1971 in the Vietnam War as a light infantry brigade. The 11th Infantry Brigade was deployed to Vietnam in December 1967 due to a need for additional American troops there,[7] and during the Vietnam War served in the United States Army's 23rd Infantry Division (called the Americal Division).

The Alabama National Guard’s 31st Chemical Brigade was originally approved for the 31st Armored Brigade on 12 August 1974, which was redesignated as a Chemical unit in 2002. “Dixie Brigade,” the unit motto, is a derivation of “Dixie Division,” nickname of the 31st Infantry Division that was a forebear of the 31st Armored and subsequently 31st Chemical Brigades.

The 199th Infantry Brigade (Light) is a unit of the United States Army which served in the Army Reserve from 1921 to 1940, in the active army from 1966 to 1970 (serving in the Vietnam War), briefly in 1991–1992 at Fort Lewis, and from 2007 as an active army training formation at Fort Benning.

The 3rd Chemical Brigade was first constituted on 1 January 1942 as the 3rd Chemical Battalion. It was activated at Fort Benning, Georgia. The unit was reorganized and redesignated as the 3rd Chemical Mortar Battalion on 11 March 1945. It was inactivated on 2 January 1946 at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia. The 149th Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment of the United States Army, provided by the Kentucky Army National Guard. It was originally constituted 22 May 1846 in the Kentucky Militia as the 1st Kentucky Cavalry and the 2d Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. After a year of Federal service (June 1846 to June 1847), it was reorganized on 15 June 1860 in the Kentucky State Guard as the Lexington Battalion (which included the Lexington Rifles). It was then expanded in November 1860 to comprise the Lexington Battalion and the Kentucky River Battalion. 7th Engineer Brigade was formed in June 1969 through the consolidation of two former engineer groups: the 540th Engr Gp and the 555th Egr Gp. The Brigade had the motto of "Engineers - Lead the Way" and had a very high morale. The Brigade deployed with VII Corps for the Gulf War. We grew to over 8,500 soldiers, three Groups, 10 Battalions, and assorted companies.
