1870 Tapestries

The Cubs began in 1870 as the Chicago White Stockings, playing their home games at West Side Grounds. Six years later, they joined the National League (NL) as a charter member. In the runup to their NL debut, owner William Hulbert signed various star players, such as pitcher Albert Spalding and infielders Ross Barnes, Deacon White, and Adrian "Cap" Anson. The White Stockings quickly established themselves as one of the new league's top teams. Spalding won forty-seven games and Barnes led the league in hitting at .429 as Chicago won the first National League pennant, which at the time was the game's top prize.

Samuel Colman (1832-1920) was an American designer, painter and writer, best known for his paintings of the Hudson River. A son of a bookstore owner in19th century New York, he may have been influenced by the artistic clientele from his early days to delve into the world of Arts.

Highland Cattle are a Scottish cattle breed. They are adapted to the cold weather and stay outside throughout the year. We have been raising these fluffy cows since 2007 on our farm in Finland.
