The Brooklyn Dodgers, a professional baseball team, was established in 1898 until they moved to Los Angeles in 1957. This collage is of the 1911 Brooklyn Dodgers. They started out as the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers named after how people had to dodge the trollies going up and down the streets of Brooklyn. It was eventually shortened to Brooklyn Dodgers.

This Brooklyn team really, REALLY hates to lose.

After winning the American Association league championship in 1889, the Brooklyn club (very occasionally now nicknamed the Bridegrooms or Grooms, for six players having wed during the 1888 season) moved to the competing older National League (1876) and won the 1890 NL Championship, being the only Major League team to win consecutive championships in both professional "base ball" leagues.

Ray Kinsella lives with his wife, Annie, and daughter, Karin, on their corn farm in Dyersville, Iowa. Troubled by his broken relationship with his late father, John, a devoted baseball fan, Ray fears growing old without achieving anything. While walking through his cornfield one evening, he hears a voice whispering, "If you build it, he will come." He sees a vision of a baseball diamond in the cornfield and "Shoeless" Joe Jackson (who in real-life died in 1951) standing in the middle. Believing in him, Annie lets him plow under part of their corn crop to build a baseball field, at risk of financial hardship.

The Brooklyn Dodgers were played in the National Football League from 1930 to 1943; in 1944 they were known as the Brooklyn Tigers for just one season.

Ebbets Field was a Major League Baseball stadium in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York. It is mainly known for having been the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team of the National League (1913–1957). It was also home to five professional football teams, including three NFL teams (1921–1948). Ebbets Field was demolished in 1960 and replaced by the Ebbets Field Apartments, the site's current occupant.

The Atlantic Base Ball Club of Brooklyn ("Atlantic" or the "Brooklyn Atlantics") was baseball's first champion and its first dynasty. The team was also the first baseball club to visit the White House in 1865 at the invitation of President Andrew Johnson.
