Harry Quinn TT bike with big TA chainset and lots of drilled bits for lightness. I loved my Quinn, it rode so responsively, all serious roadies had 'Quinn's' where I lived as a teenager, keen on 10 and 25 mile time trial racing. I painted this canvas to celebrate Harry Quinn's lightweight racing bikes, I particularly enjoyed painting the heraldic badge in the background. I have painted it in beautiful lustrous colours to enhance the bold geometric patterns and fine detail. I use Winsor and Newton professional acrylics and glazes and the painting has a high gloss, deep lustrous surface. A hand crafted painting of a vintage lightweight Bates bicycle finished in classic black and chrome with diadrant forks, cottered cranks, Brooks saddle and large flange hubs. I painted this in the early autumn when the bats where still about in the early evening and the leaves where turning crisp like corn flakes. I have carefully applied the layers of glaze and paint to give this painting a deep lustrous finish and to enhance the bold geometric patterns and fine detail. This Condor Baracchi is my current ride, its really comfortable, lightweight and fast, built by a renowned UK frame builder who has be producing bikes for over 60 years. Named after The Trofeo Baracchi a major Italian cycling race that ran for 50 years. It was created by Mino Baracchi, in memory of his father Angelo who was a great cycle racing fan. Originally (from 1941) an amateur individual time trial, from 1944 it was open to professionals and became a major event on the European calendar until 1990. The painting has two coats of protective professional varnish and is supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
