Chelsworth Tapestries

14th Century timber-framed inn in the centre of the unspoilt medieval village of Chelsworth (formerly Coerleswyrthe and Chellesworth). The Peacock did have a village shop in it until the 1970s. Famous a jazz venue in the 1980s it is now a popular pub and restaurant.

Chelsworth Park in Suffolk

A view of the timber-framed cottages in The Street in Chelsworth. These all date from 1300-1500. The village dates from at least 870AD with many signs of Roman settlement here. Chelsworth is thought to have been at an important river crossing in Roman times.

The Northern (older half) of Robert Pocklington's bridge. The southern half was rebuilt after Pocklington demolished the old Lower Mill at the centre of the village in 1754. The bridge was damaged by a tank in the war and was heavily rebuilt in 1990. The bridge is a Grade 1 listed monument.
