Cleethorpes Pier Tapestries

Cleethorpes Pier is a pleasure pier in the town of Cleethorpes.It originally cost £8,000, which was largely financed by railway companies serving the cities of Sheffield and Manchester and the county of Lincolnshire. It was officially opened on August Bank Holiday Monday 1873.

Sunrise breaking behind Cleethorpes pier at low tide before the lights go out for the day.

It would have been a shame to miss the first sunrise of the new year, especially because the sun doesn’t come up until around 8.30am in this part of England! I was lucky because the sun eventually broke out of the clouds on the horizon just as I was nearing the pier, which resulted in one of the best views I’ve ever seen of the Cleethorpes front!
