Pessimism is not more "realistic" than optimism. Faith and worry are basically the same thing. Both require believing in things you can't see. Both invite you to predict the future. The difference is what you believe in, and what you choose to do about it. Optimists believe that things will certainly get better if you don't give up. Pessimists lean into the idea that it isn't worth it to try too much because you'll only be disappointed. Both optimists and pessimists predict their own future. I've tried them both, and I don't really recommend either. On my best days, I'm not an optimist or a pessimist. I'm a scientist. I come up with ideas. I test them. I measure the results, learn from the data, and make adjustments.

PRO TIP- Put your joy where no one can reach it. Your happiness is more important than you think. Achieve a state of bliss and maintain it as best you can. Don't let others convince you to sacrifice your happiness. You can't help others from a place of emotional deficiency.

Money can definitely buy happiness if you know where to shop.

It's natural to notice when things aren't fair. But being mad at people who are getting "more than their fair share" isn't gonna do you any good. Stop hating on them long enough to figure out how to get your fair share and help your people get theirs. Success is the best revenge.

Prisoners are human beings. Not scum. Not trash. Not animals. Not all of them are even guilty of the crime they were convicted of, but even the guilty have rights in a civilized society.

People often ask me why I don't go out of my way to work at the major publishers anymore. When this villain made his first appearance on a movie screen, the writer who created him found out because he was sitting in the audience when it happened. Not cool. I'm just sayin'...

Excuse my French, but sometimes I get people saying that they have a calling to do something, but being timid about making it happen. I understand that the world doesn't always step up to support your calling, but the world definitely needs it.

This message is just for you. To help you remind yourself that you are good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, and strong enough. If you want, you can get better. But you are enough right now.

When we talk to people about politics (not recommended, but it happens), we're reminded that a lot of y'all only believe in human rights for yourself, not others. At those times, we find ourselves wondering, do you even democracy, bro?
