This is an image of one of those hundreds of hills seen when driving for days along the central, north-central, mid-central, and eastern parts of the State of Oregon. These hills come in a variety of shapes, colours, geological eras, types, etc. You name it. What a feast for the eyes to travel through those parts of Oregon. This image was taken particularly along the drive from the Town of Mitchel (close to the area of the Painted Hills) towards Smith Rock and the John Day Fossil Bed National Monument. What a beauty of an area; definitely worth stopping every few minutes to absorb nature and take it all in with your eyes (and with a camera of course). With subtle differences in texture and grain ~ I wanted to investigate and experiment further the nuances as such ~ within the field... and where better than a grain or grass field..!?! It didn't take me long to find a subject matter and working the exposure triangle allowed me to capture this delicate yet colourful snap of a meadow brown ~ "on the underwing" Many butterflies for camouflage reasons have different colour and pattern on their undersides - to give them a little R&R from predation - whilst feeding.

This is the 2nd in a pair of native grassland monoprints (See Native Grasslands 2A Acrylic Monoprint) which form part of a series of over 40 different monoprints with native grasslands as the theme. In the ACT in Australia on 3% of native grasslands remain. Both prints have been printed using acrylic paints on a gelli plate.

Native Grasslands 1 is part of a series of monoprints with Australian Native Grasslands as their theme. In the Australian Capital Territory only 3% of native grasslands remain. The monoprint was produced on a gelli plate using acrylic flow paints.

As the river Ogwen meanders through the valley with its continuous flow... I wanted to capture some of the larger trees and just so happened to stumble upon this large boulder in the river that attracted my eye. This image was generated for me to practice my skills in both pre and post production, using a combination of natural filtration and the use of lightroom, which I am new to... I just liked the composition and wanted to add a touch of magenta to the foreground water to distinguish from the cloud background. As yet, I am not sure whether I will work with natural landscapes or synthetic filtered landscapes... I'm just experimenting!

We were walking towards the hotel in Oman for sight seeing and I was surprise to see these fountain grasses all along the pathway.
