"Eldritch Hastur" depicteds as a surreal and otherworldly figure, surrounded by cosmic and eldritch energies. The King in Yellow is often associated with a mysterious and malevolent presence, and his appearance is frequently obscured or shrouded in yellow or tattered robes. The background of the picture might feature arcane symbols, twisted landscapes, or surreal vistas to convey the otherworldly nature of Hastur's influence.

The Yellow Sign is a symbol first mentioned in Robert W. Chambers' book of horror short stories The King in Yellow (1895). The stories mention the play The King in Yellow, a forbidden work which induces despair and madness in those who read it.. H. P. Lovecraft and many of his imitators were great admirers of Chambers' book and incorporated many of his characters and symbols into their own works. In the latter-day Cthulhu Mythos, the Yellow Sign is the sign of The Great Old One, Hastur, and is used by members of his cult to identify one another.

In Carcosa's shadows, tales of the Pallid Mask unfold—a figure cloaked in dread. Eldritch secrets meld with madness. Beware the Yellow Sign, for beyond lies cosmic malevolence, name unspoken, echoing in forbidden corridors of knowledge.
