Hotel De Ville Tapestries

This is a close-up of one of the many sculptures situated at the side of one of the windows in Hotel de Ville in Paris, France. Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier was a French nobleman and chemist central to the 18th-century chemical revolution and had a large influence on both the history of chemistry and the history of biology. He is widely considered in popular literature as the father of modern chemistry. His great accomplishments in chemistry largely stem from his changing the science from a qualitative to a quantitative one. This is an image of Hotel de Ville (city hall) in downtown Paris. It has been the headquarters of the municipality of Paris since 1357. Today the building houses the city's local administration, and serves multiple other functions, including the Office of the Mayor of Paris, as well as a venue for large government receptions. This images is one of a few showing some of the details adorning the façade of the Hotel de Ville (city hall) in downtown Paris. This specific section is a small part of the main tower on top of the building (the clock tower) which reads Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, which is the national motto of France and the Republic of Haiti. Although this slogan finds its origins in the French Revolution, it was not institutionalized until the Third Republic at the end of the 19th century. Hotel de Ville in Paris (the Paris City Hall) is a very large building housing the city's local administrative affairs. It used to be called Place de Grève. The building has the location of the municipality of Paris since 1357. It serves multiple functions, housing the local administration, the Mayor of Paris (since 1977). It also serves as a venue for large receptions. Paris, France. The Hôtel de Ville in Paris, France, is the building housing the city's local administration. Standing on the place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville in the 4th arrondissement. The south wing was originally constructed by François I beginning in 1535 until 1551. The north wing was built by Henry IV and Louis XIII between 1605 and 1628. It was burned by the Paris Commune, along with all the city archives that it contained, during the Commune's final days in May 1871. The outside was rebuilt following the original design, but larger, between 1874 and 1882, while the inside was considerably modified, it has been the headquarters of the municipality of Paris since 1357.
