William Carlos Williams (1883-1963) was a Puerto Rican and American poet and writer. He was a modernist, associated with the movement of imagism (Ezra Pound), and he wanted to make a fusion of painting and poetry. Some of his books' titles directly express this platform, i.e., " Pictures from Brueghel and Other Poems". This book won him the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1963.

He was awarded the Bollingen Prize in 1949 by the Library of Congress for his unfinished 120-section epic, The Cantos.
