Risque image (au but as double entendre & also meaning I think to the point) taken from a book plate I have that was published 1894 I think the signature indicates the original was by Lucio Rossi (see below) Lucio (or L or Louis or Lucius) Rossi was born in Rome 23 January 1846, Rossi moved to Paris in 1867 to work as an illustrator gaining a reputation for his work in various journals and periodicals. However, he is best known for his genre-paintings and exquisite portraits of finely-dressed women in luxurious domestic settings. Rossi died in Paris in October 1913. From Wiki: In Gaelic mythology, various accounts are given of the origin of the name. In one account, Lough Conn was created when Fionn mac Cumhaill was hunting with his hounds; Conn and Cullin. They came across a wild boar. Finn and the hounds attempted to chase it. However, as the boar ran, water poured from its feet. The hounds ran ahead of Finn and evenally Conn was ahead of Cullin. Conn chased the boar for days until a lake appeared. The boar swam back to land but Conn was drowned. This happened again in the south to Cullin. Harriot Eaton Stanton Blatch (January 20, 1856 – November 20, 1940) was an American writer, suffragist, and the daughter of pioneering women's rights activist Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Harriot Eaton Stanton was born, the sixth of eight children, in Seneca Falls, New York, to social activists Henry Brewster Stanton and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. She attended Vassar College, where she graduated with a degree in mathematics in 1878. She attended the Boston School for Oratory for a year, and then spent most of 1880-81 in Germany as a tutor for young girls. On her return voyage to the United States, she met English businessman William Henry Blatch, Jr., known as "Harry Blatch". The two were married in 1882, and lived in Basingstoke, Hampshire ...
