The historical Fye Bridge over the River Wensum, Magdalen Street in the city of Norwich, Norfolk. Fye Bridge is just one of the many bridges over the River Wensum and whilst it has been rebuilt several times over the years there has been a bridge in this location since 1153.

A wooden footbridge crossing the River Pang in the woodland at Moor Copse near Tidmarsh in Berkshire. The River Pang is one of England's much valued chalk streams which are rich in wildlife. The river starts its life on the Berkshire (North Wessex) Downs near the village of Compton and winds its way through West Berkshire to finally meet the River Thames at Pangbourne.

A footbridge over the River Pang in the watermeadows adjacent to the village of Pangbourne in Berkshire. The footpath leads from Pangbourne and follws the river, crossing here, to emerge at Tidmarsh a mile or so away. The Pang is a chalk stream which rises in Compton on the Berkshire Downs (although this is dependant on rainfall) and flows through West Berkshire to join the Thames at Pangbourne. It has a wide variety of wildlife, supported by a large nature reserve at Tidmarsh.

When constructed this was the worlds longest single span suspension bridge. The distance between the two uprights is approx 1.4 KM, nearly a mile. The overall length of the bridge is well in excess of a mile. The river it spans is the Hull. The bridge on the north bank is in Hessle, a small village about 6 miles outside the city of Kingston Upon Hull, or more commonly known simply as Hull. Feats of engineering like this always fascinate me and to have had the opportunity to go onto the north bank foreshore of the Hull and get this shot was simply amazing. The shear scale of the bridges construction can be seen by the presence of the boat, shored-up in the front/centre of the frame. Taken on: Canon EOS 70D 17.5 mm ISO 100...

A footbridge inviting us to cross over the River Pang at Tidmarsh, West Berkshire. Once over we can pass through the gate into the meadows and walk to Sulham. To our right is historic Tidmarsh Mill, once home to Lytton Strachey and Dora Carrington. To the left the river flows on to meet the Thames at Pangbourne. The Pang, one of England's ecologically valued chalk streams, starts its life on the Berkshire Downs near Compton (depending on rainfall!) and supports a wide variety of wildlife.

Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become a world-famous symbol of London. As a result, it is sometimes confused with London Bridge, about 0.5 miles upstream. A wooden footbridge taking pedestrians and cyclists over the River Kennet in Newbury, Berkshire. Here an arm of the river has left the main stream - the Kennet and Avon Navigation - and after passing through a sluice gate rushes along just below the main waterway with further weirs adding to it. The river, through the sluices effectively controls the level of water in the canal.
