A bright scarlet macaw

This started out as a photo I took of a Macaw in flight in Tenerife but I wanted to make it more dramatic by giving it more movement and highlighting the beautiful plumage against a black background. I edited it in Photoshop CC and Topaz studio. Taken with a Nikon D7000 and an 18-200 mm lens

A couple of colourful geometric lovebirds

For a long time, I have always had a slight fear of birds. But I do have the respect for them. Parrots in particular are exceptionally bright animals, growing up I had the luck of being around a macaw for a few years. He belonged to my aunt and I was always amazed at the fact he could talk and understand humans. So with that memory in mind, I wanted to create a piece that depicted a Scarlet Macaw on the shoulder of a human to represent the guardianship, and protective nature that they all possess. Along with the iconic colourful plumage we all associate with these birds.
