A portrait study inspired by a photograph that a friend posted, small details removed from the original gave the abundance of negative space in the bottom, which I tried to balance out with the frenetic energy / movement in the hair.

A strong bold but colorful take on the rainbow theme

Yeah, I know. Kind of a long winded design title. But it is just as the title suggests. This particular design is one I created from an artifact housed at the Seattle Art Museum. The artifact is a cedar casket with a blue bear design painted prominently at its center. This image is one I designed from that artifact, and painted on one of the panels of a blanket box that I had made for myself.
