This design is based off of the manuscript of the famous Middle English poem Sir Gawain of the Green Knight (from the Cotton MS Nero A X manuscript). I've recreated one of the illustration by hand carving my own block print then printing and scanning it. The image depicts Sir Gawain near his final confrontation with the Green Knight.

The Temptation of Sir Percival - Arthur Hacker Sir Percival was on a quest for the grail when an enchantress worked to seduce him. He was about to give her everything and betray his cause, when he spied his sword with the cross on the pommel, reminding him of his knightly duties.

A quick design.

How "Sherlock Holmes" came to be written for the stagetheatre is an interesting story. Curiously enough, it was not at the suggestion of Dr. Conan Doyle, Mr. William Gillette, or Mr. Charles Frohman, who is Mr. Gillette's manager, but through the inventive genius of an American reporter. This enterprising individual wrote a paragraph to the effect that Conan Doyle had stated that should anyone ever dramatize Sherlock Holmes it would be William Gillette.

This design was inspired by Sherlock's red The End t-shirt from the Elementary TV show. To Sherlock Holmes, arriving at the end of the case is often Elementary. There is no problem he can’t solve.
