A representation of Mitochondrial Eve, who actually pre-dates the concept of race. Always has fascinated me that, if you trace back the DNA in the maternally inherited mitochondria within our cells, all humans have a theoretical common ancestors, Mitochondrial Eve. She wasn't the first human but every other female lineage eventually had no female offspring, failing to pass on their mitochondrial DNA so all humans today can trace their mitochondrial DNA back to her. Within her DNA and that of her peers, existed all the genetic variation we see in contemporary humans which is mad. Also DYK Lupita Nyong'o carries the DNA from the oldest maternal haplogroup also known as Mitochondrial Eve?

Looking at the news, it feels like people are watching passively as genocides happen around us, in freeze mode either because its too overwhelming or because they can't be bothered to care. A reminder: close your eyes, open your third eye and bloody rehumanize yourself. Then do something you can do about it. Buy an esim for Gaza, send food to Yemen, provide relief and much needed resources to Sudan, ween yourself off tech products and lobby your representatives to shut down child trafficking and rape in the DRC. Or, help stock food banks and pantries in your own home, for the lesser fortunate among us because everyone is one bad medical bill, lay off, or bad day away from homelessness.

I made this from a handful of portraits, all sliced and diced and then re-applied on top of each other. I love how it turned out. She's multifaceted, and it's a love letter to black women and that includes trans women.

I Just love how this turned out. It's amazing how little is needed in terms of imagery to make a complete piece of art, there's no torso or body, just a jacket, hands and crossed calves. Did you know sunflowers originated around 1000 BC in what's now known as Arizona & New Mexico, and were first cultivated as a food source? Then after discovering how to extract the oil for cooking, also used it ofr skin and hair, and the stalk would often be used as a building material. Well, now you do!

This design says "My Marbles, I found them!" accompanied by some digitally painted cat eye marbles. It is for those of you who sometimes lose your marbles, but then find them again. ;) This fun, playful, colourful & bright novelty design is great for those who love retro toys and collectors items, and those who never truly lose their marbles.

Watermelons were originally a symbol of black emancipation pre Jim Crow era and were then co-opted by racists to become a racist trope about their supposed uncleanliness, childishness, idleness and unfitness for the public square. It was spread in US print throughout the late 1860s and supported the post-emancipation argument that African Americans were unsuited for citizenship. Well, FUCK that.
