Picturesque thatched cottage in the main street of the village of Avebury. Avebury is known for its standing stones: a circle within which the village has been partly built. The Neolithic henge monument, constructed around 2600 BC, contains three stone circles, in Wiltshire, in southwest England. Unique amongst megalithic monuments, Avebury contains the largest stone circle in Europe, and is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain. View from near the top of the Weem Rock, near the Village of Aberfeldy in the Breadalbane region of Highland Perthshire (Breadalbane means “Highland Scotland” in Gaelic). Shot taken on Sunday 21st December 08 in the middle of our winter. The sun is very low in the sky as it always is at this time of year, though it was only 2:12 in the afternoon. Here is a watercolour of the little town of Abrucena in La Alpujarra Almeriense beneath the peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains. At this time of year the trees have lost most of their leaves and there is snow on the mountain peaks. It makes a good composition though and the winter light and shadows are beautiful. The scene from the toll bridge at Whitchurch on Thames in Oxfordshire. The church of St Mary stands above the cottages which surround the old mill - no longer working but converted into flats. However, two large water wheels can be seen beneath the building, The church, originally built in Norman times underwent an extensive rebuilding programme during the Victorian period. Whitchurch is across the Thames and just north of the village of Pangbourne in Berkshire.

So many of the highlights of Mackenzie Country packed into such a small area. The golden tussock, the hiking opportunities, and Mount Cook, lording it over it all...

Majestic Boat is a nautical art print I created using an abstract watercolor technique. The technique creates an illusion of detail, but is really just sharp shapes of precise color. The setting is a harbor lined by a New England fishing village. All around the harbor are docks and moors for the many boats that call the harbor home. New England is infamous for its fishing industry and the towns that support it. This red toadstool reminded me of the flower fairy stories I used to read as a child. I definitely think this fungi is one to be avoided if foraging. It shouts out 'Don't eat me!!' Leave it for the fairies village at the bottom of the garden.
