Compiègne is another commune in Oise in northern France, and is located on the Oise River. It has a population of about 14,000 people. It has the Château de Compiegne, the museum of the Second French Empire, the museum of Motoring and Tourism, the Musée Antoine Vivenel, and the Museum of Historic Figurines. Compiègne is also home to the famous University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), one of the top ranking engineering school in France, founded as a Technology University in 1972 to provide an alternative to the traditional "grandes écoles" for students interested in technologies and applied science.
