Description: Rendered on a deep dark background, this artwork presents a large circle with a smaller circle of half its radius shown in four positions, a point on the small circle moving back and forth along a straight diameter. In 1247 the Persian astronomer Nasir al-Din al-Tusi described the Tusi couple, which turns circular motion into straight-line motion. The device later appeared in the work of Copernicus. Made for math teachers, mathematicians and students who love an elegant proof, it brings classic mathematics to a classroom, study or home office.
