There is a buzz in the air, here in New York City. Taxis sound their horns in frustration, engines snarling, the energy palpable. Skyscrapers soar upwards, thousands of windows twinkling like stars, each one a mystery. I wander the streets, alone and excited, a day to myself exploring, my senses overwhelmed. The work is full of colour, full of vibrancy, and I have used some collage to add to the chaos and bustle of the city. This work is a great souvenir of the Big Apple, a perfect gift and a fantastic addition to any collection of urban themed works.

In Naples, in spring, in the shadow of Vesuvius, where the Mediterranean scents the air with brine and pine, and the breeze carries odors of fish and diesel. I pass a block of apartments, coloured with faded pink and yellow, like an ancient fresco, bleached by the sun, and washed by winter rain. Sheets flutter in the breeze, greenery grows and climbs. From all around come shouts, voices, bursts of music. The work is rich in realism and details, infused with light. A perfect souvenir of Naples, a great gift.

I loved the colours, the delicious coolth of green mint, with lines of creamy white, of peach and apricot, yellow and orange, the stucco peeling like the petals of mature roses. Splashes of strawberry red, the shade of oily palm trees and the nostalgic, classic shape of superannuated cars. The heat is palpable, the light unforgiving and cleansing. This work is a perfect addition to any collection, a welcome breeze of tropical heat, a fantastic gift.

t is strange to reflect that, whilst sitting and drinking a coffee, one of the most savage battles in European history raged around this beach. I came across rows of beautiful Art Nouveau houses on an epic walk on a very cold and blustery day in winter. I wanted to immortalise one in my own art.

Paris, St Denis

It is a clear day, perfect for exploring the outer reaches of Edinburgh's New Town. A warm feeling of belonging, of familiarity bred over decades of visits, since childhood. The incline is steep, and the way meanders, passing opulent and classical buildings. In summer the air is rich with pollen, in winter a tang of wood smoke and a chill that invigorates. I admire the intricate and uniform construction of the buildings, golden and classical.

A terrace on a rooftop. The Mediterranean breeze, the muffled sounds of the city below. The sound of car horns, the staccato and distant voice of a radio presenter. Time for a long, cool drink, time to relax. The scent of oleander and thyme and safe, of coffee and baking. The work is rich in life and colour. A blast of heat. A reminder of better times around the corner. An ideal gift. A great addition to any collection.

A man sits alone on a train, at night, the destination unknown, a fleeting moment of transience, paths crossed. It is summer, the carriage is hot. Shorts, t-shirt, a paper mask that adds a sense of mystery. It is a strange summer indeed, and yet in the midst of it, we continue our lives. The work is striking, filled with light and realism and colour. A wonderful gift, a great addition to any collection.

A weekend exploring Hull, wondering streets evocative of another time, snippets of childhood, a fascination with red brick and terracotta chimney stacks, a fascination with symmetry and Victorian dimensions. The day is mine, to explore as I wish, and I find myself in the Avenues, a Bohemian-feeling expanse of roads and alleys, baked under a hot sun in a wide sky. The tiles, the bricks, the walls absorb the day’s heat, releasing their nectar of tar and creosote, intoxicating and Proustian scents. An ice cream van’s jingle, with a bitter-sweet pang, the hum of traffic on the main roads nearby, and the breeze that carries a tang from the Humber and the North Sea. A lovely gift, a great souvenir of Hull.

A splash of pink brick work enlivens this building in Shoreditch, East London. The set of houses is typical of London, deserted in the early morning light.

I explore Bristol. From the river, on a solitary walk, a row of colorful houses catches my eye. There is something playful, childlike about them. The tones are bright, filled with light and hope, striking. The air is crisp, scents of brine and elderflower, and the sun warms me. The canvas is filled colour and energy, and it makes a wonderful gift or addition to a collection.

Shadows and shade, a magical place where Edinburgh stone, rigid, and classical, blends into a sylvain world of hidden garden, of moss and coolth. The crescent is one of several that formed an outer fringe of territory in childhood, close to my grandmother’s flat. To the side, an enchanted private garden cascades down to the valley, whilst similar streets branch off. A place of delicious serenity, of Grecian columns and huge windows, drawing rooms with pianos and basement flats. This work is a wonderful souvenir of Edinburgh, the Athens of the North, and a great addition to any collection.
