Improvisation Pillows
Description: Inspired by one of my favourite improv games: "New Choice"*, but it also fits for anyone considering a big change in their life, or calling for a change in the status quo. In the game, the players act out a scene whilst someone directs from offstage, shouting "New Choice" whenever they feel players should come up with something different- (or, preferably, better)
Description: Improvisation 30 (Cannons) by Wassily Kandinsky, 1913. A vintage fine art abstract painting featuring cannons in the lower right of the artwork. This piece is part of a series and was completed right before the start of WWI and was likely influenced by the heavy talk of war at the time. During the years before the war Kandinsky created several “improvisations.” He described these paintings as unconscious, spontaneous expressions.
Description: Drying dishes in a scene? Nope Holding a tray of food during a walk on as a waiter? Sorry Poor Improv T-Rex can't catch a break. He knows object work is important to establish the reality of the scene, but his short, stubby arms weren't made for building an environment. At least he can Zip Zap Zop. Artist: Emily Bartsch Watson
Description: The fabric of space conveniently folds into regular clock-time intervals, with meandering swirls showing faintly through the orderly hours, and thankfully surrounded by a few glowing ribbons of imagination to remind us to save a bit of time for playful expression and free-spirited improvisation.
