Lodgepole Pillows

Nature's Illusions- Lodgepole Curves is a creation of a long exposure capture of the lodgepole forest at spring time with all the lush green undergrowth combined with special effects to create the curves. Coloration is natural as it is in all of my nature based abstracts.

Forest Illusions- Lodgepole Meadow is created by using long exposure combined with planned camera movement while utilizing the natural colors and lighting of the scene before me. The brilliant greens are the meadow grasses flanking the sparse stand of lodgepole pine trees. Then I rotated it 90 degrees for a unique pattern! Don't worry, keep fighting that urban battle and I will keep sharing that connection to nature with you.

Forest Illusions - Reborn is a combination of long exposure and planned camera movement encompassing the natural lighting and coloration of the scene before me. The forest of burned lodgepole and tamarack can be seen by the dark streaks. The light green is the rebirth of the forest. As san as forest fires can be, there is a happiness found when what was lost begins to regrow.

Lodgepole Pines Yellowstone Wyoming by Debra Martz The most common cone-bearing trees in this national park are lodgepole pines, which cover as much as 80% of Yellowstone. The name Lodgepole is derived from some American Indian tribs which used this tree to frame their tipis or lodges. At the Old Faithful Inn you will find log walls also made with the lodgepole pine. The dead lodgepole pine trees in the foreground, seen at the Fountain Paint Pot boardwalk, are pioneers that did not survive. These trees drowned when the nearby hot springs shifted, in addition, silica also penetrated the trees and hardened their bases.
