Maryport in Cumbria is one of the few places on the English coast where you can still see what looks like a fishing boat fleet. There are even enough boats for there to be a yearly trawler race! The harbour and new yacht marina are the start of regeneration taking place and the once Roman outpost is slowly becoming a popular tourist area.

Maryport is one of the few English Towns that still has a working fishing fleet, albeit very small. The town itself relies more on tourism now. The small harbour is still busy with trawlers going to a fro and they sail out into the Solway FIrth.

Following a stormy afternoon, the clouds part to give spectacular evening light over the Solway Firth. Unsurprisingly this area of coastline was designated an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) as early as 1964.
