This is a section of the seating in the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. The stadium was built for the first modern Olympic Games, which took place in 1896. The stadium is built entirely of marble, which includes the seating. I'm not sure if they handed out cushions for those seats but a long day of watching the sporting events could have made even the most ardent less comfortable than they might have liked. ;-) What I love about this image is the abstraction, the curves intersected by the diagonal recesses for the stairs. Apparently, the stadium has a maximum capacity of 50,000 seated individuals, which is the same as the ancient stadium upon whose ruins it was built

Off the top rope with a folding chair! The white folding chair has become a symbol of justice and unity, a mighty improvised weapon to fend off idiots who made bad life choices. When they f around, they find out. When they roll up on someone with privilege and rage, may they have several seats upside the noggin. *In self-defense only, of course.

This piece is called "Best Seats In The House' and was created on November 25th, 2019. It dipicts two friends enjoying a breath taking view.

The 1920 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the VII Olympiad, was held in .... Antwerp Belgium but was initially awarded to Budapest, Hungary. In 1919 the 1920 Games were switched to Antwerp as Hungary was not welcome to participate after WWI. Outside the Olympic Stadium Budapest (which was built for the awarded games) are a series of statues for sports that the Hungarians thought were strong sports for the home nation. On my first visit, the weather was dull and damp but I recorded each of the static tableaux wondering at the costumes, earnest effort and the sports themselves (country dancing?) included. Visits in subsequent years following the commusistic era and newly discovered "freedom" ... I found the status...
