Description: This is a celebration of community, care, mutual aid, and the strength of coming together. I invoke in the shape a sense of embracing arms and holding each other up, but I also wanted it to look vaguely like a human anatomical heart and perhaps a piece of fruit ripe for harvest because I was inspired by this part of a poem: "we are each other's harvest, we are each other's business, we are each other's magnitude and bond"-Gwendolyn Brooks

Description: While visiting the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago I learned that hummingbirds are used as a symbol similar to the monarch butterfly. After doing a bit of research, I found out that from Alaska to the Caribbean to South America, hummingbirds hold symbolic weight pretty much wherever they fly. From messengers of fortune, to warriors that fight bravely despite their size, to harbingers of death - hummingbirds means different things to different people. For me, they began to symbolize both the crossing of "physical" borders/honoring the journey of immigrants, but also a symbol of our capacity to cross all kinds of borders - all the arbitrary distinctions and binaries in our society, in our maps, and in ourselves. This celebrates that.

Description: I read an article about the ongoing toxic culture of the book-banning that reported on an accusation that school libraries are the "arm of Satan," and this image just popped into my head. Librarians and library workers need loud, public, and unrelenting support right now and you can do your part by flaunting this shirt and pissing off some book-banners. I plan to donate half my profits from this to my local library association. The other half will go towards buying me and my fellow library workers a lot of chocolate.
