Bromeliads are fascinating in their variety of colours, textures and shapes. This beautiful array was from a garden in Sydney, Australia. Snails love to hide amongst their leaves.
A young Praying Mantis surprised me in my backyard and delighted me with it's antics for a while, so I decided to immortalise him/her. So the Praying Mantis (named for their stance) is preying for it's dinner in the Bromeliads.
Caramello is my kitty. We call her Mello, for short. She is a curious, sweet natured, Devon Rex who fills our lives with fun. So of course she had to feature in one of my artworks!

Lulu our Devon Rex kitty, had a lovely visit to our bromeliad garden. She's normally an inside girl, so she was taken with the the adventure of it all.
Air plants are very interesting, unique plants and part of the Bromeliad family. Blue Banded Bees are a native Australian bee and they are incredibly cute and curious. They follow me around the garden as I water to see what I'm up too.

Inspired by the amazing gardens at The Olive Branch Nursery in Brisbane. Autumnal tones highlight the golden sunlight shining through the trees. A little caterpillar - a local in the Upper Kedron area, wanders down a leaf.
I discovered this fabulous Bromeliad at The Olive Branch Bromeliad Nursery in Brisbane, Australia, and I just had to paint it! The Harlequin Beetle came to visit me one night on my door screen so I thought they would be a perfect pairing.
The second half of the Bromeliad Oasis Diptych. Based on a garden bed in the Sydney Botanic Gardens. Dwarf green tree frogs frolic and make their homes amongst the leaves.
Drawn from a picture I took in Monet's Garden in France in 2019. Such an inspiring, magical place. I'm truly grateful he left it to the people of France, so we can enjoy it too.

My first painting of bromeliads was inspired by the Sydney Botanic Gardens. A love of the many shapes and colours in the bromeliad species has developed as a result and now I don't only paint them, but grow them too.
The native flowers in the front of the picture are called Kangaroo Paws, so there's a little play on words as the kangaroo and Joey stop to wish you a merry Christmas
More beautiful bromeliads, this time housing a small St Andrew's Cross Spider in his web. Again, the inspiration for the critter in this painting came from my own backyard.
Based on The Roma Street Gardens in Brisbane City, this painting shows the capacity of Bromeliads to adapt to anywhere they are placed, including on tree trunks! The lizard is one of the wild River Dragons that wander the gardens, basking and entertaining the visitors.
